I read an article about CUNY's initiation of stricter criteria for entrance into its colleges; nonetheless, CUNY's community colleges shall continue its open admissions policy. I think this is a positive initiation, for better students can be attracted to its institutions. CUNY schools are not considered excellent for it is its poor funding and lenient entrance criteria, thus stricter entrance criteria is a nice step. In addition, CUNY is to initiate these recent criteria at Queens College, the school I attend, in addition to Baruch, Hunter et al. I would like Queens College to be painted as an excellent school in others' minds; alas, it is instead thought of as a decent school. But in fact, this institution is a brilliant school -- but that exists in variation to different courses --, and its professors are intelligent, albeit some are a bit arrogant (but horrible at teaching, too). I do wish I had attended a SUNY; indeed, I did get accepted to one, but I could not attend it (and it is considered the best of the SUNY schools). SUNY schools have better funding and students can reside in dorms, for instance.
